I have a used 8500GT PCI express GPU for sale. I purchase this to upgrade my 7600GT, but in between purchase and arrival, i obtained a different card, so this is now surplus

it is made by GAINWOOD, and uses the 8500 GT processor. It has 256MB DDr3 memory.

Sell for £20 inc postage to UK. Paypal only

Not really an upgrade more of a down-grade.
The 7600 has a bandwidth of 22.4 Gb/s whereas the 8500 can only manage 12.8 Gb/sec
The important parameter with (old) nVidia cards is the second digit not the first.
Therefore an x6xx is going to be faster than a y5yy.

Regards

Jim

The 7900 is without doubt the best card for FS that nVidia ever made. It's architecture really suits the huge pixel bandwdth required to generate scenery. The clue is in that second figure ..it a 9!! You'd have to buy at least a GT240 to beat the 7900GT

well, it has improved my FS frame rates in FSX, but not that much

I was getting around 9 FPS before, nowi get around 19 FPS, not too hot, but better

as im sure you know, FSX is more CPU based software rather then GPU, so as youve stated, adding more GPU power isnt a great help (only a little!)

to really get the best out of your FSX, upgrade CPU.

ALTHOUGH.

Im getting better frames than you DC, using your old (less powerful!) CPU and a lesser GPU.. something HAS to be wrong, maybe your system setup doesnt configure well ?

Cheers,

Jonay

i have no ideas. this is the third different PC i have used [different board and CPU etc, you have one of my old ones], and this is the most i have got out of fSX, at 19FPS.

My current rig is

AMD Dual Core 6GHZ [2x3GHX]
3GB RAM
200 GB SATA drive
Nvidia 7900GT GPU

oh.. it isnt 6GHz, its acutally 3GHz, CLICK HERE FOR EMAIL(ish!)

but if you're going by your logic then the newest i7 range of pentium CPUs have 28.04GHz(ish!)

Anyway, what is your MoBo? Im thinking its compatibility with your DDR3 and the likes are clashing destructively.

Cheers,

Jonay
